Get To Know The Lead Counsellor

Passionate, Caring, Authentic

Hey there, I'm Lori, a Social Worker, and Counselor, currently serving my community for approximately seven years and counting in various social service settings.

At The Butterfly Park (TBP), my goal is to provide unique services that work towards filling the gaps for folks in need. This work is hope-based, solution-focused, and unique to each client. I am here to guide your process, remind you to dream out loud, help find peace, answers within, and change how you move into your future.

TBP Services offers years of experience facilitating groups and conversations among teens, various Afro-Caribbean and Black (ACB), non-ACB women’s groups, and various book studies, along with working with the Indigenous Population.

With combined years of experience working with various social service NGO-agencies in Ontario; such as:

  • Immigrant Women's Services Ottawa (IWSO)

  • The Ottawa Rape Crisis Center (ORCC)

  • Centre for All Women's Initiative (CAWI)

  • Algonquin College's Ottawa Campus' Counselling Team

  • Domestic Violence Shelters across Southern Ontario.

These experiences have greatly influenced my approach to service.

TBP Services acknowledges that we work and live on the unceded territory of the Algonquin Anishinaabeg Peoples. The Algonquin peoples have lived on this land since time immemorial. As African, Caribbean & Black people, on these lands, we are grateful for the opportunities, while acknowledging the injustice faced by those who came before us. We continue to work for deserved treatments, recognized freedoms, justice, and rights for all.
